Luneur Park

Rome, Italy, 2016

Founded in 1953 in Rome’s EUR district, Luneur became part of the collective memory of the city, welcoming generations of visitors for more than fifty years.

Following eight years of closure, the park reopened on 27 October 2016 with a renewed identity and a new programme dedicated to children and families. Giò Forma contributed to the redesign of Luneur Park, shaping its architecture and playful visual language for a new generation.

The project transforms almost seven hectares into a Garden of Wonders, where attractions, landscape, architecture and storytelling form a continuous experience. Historic elements of the original park, including the Ferris wheel and several beloved rides, are integrated into a new environment shaped by gardens, colour and discovery.

The design explores the world through the perception of a child. Buildings, façades, custom elements and visual details adopt enlarged forms, clear geometries and vivid colours, shifting the familiar scale of everyday objects and creating an immersive environment.

This language is visible throughout the park, from architectural volumes and decorative structures to oversized elements inspired by games and illustrated worlds. Each intervention contributes to a coherent identity, allowing children to move through a place conceived around curiosity, imagination and play.

Landscape is an essential part of the experience. Paths, planted areas, attractions and educational spaces create a multifunctional environment where entertainment develops alongside nature and environmental awareness. The landscape project was developed by HYDEA, while FABERtechnica shaped the lighting experience across the park.

In 2026, Luneur Park celebrated ten years since its reopening. A piece of Rome, reimagined for a new generation, the project continues to welcome children and families within a world of architecture, gardens, colour and imagination.
